11 Feb 10: QUALCOMM Launches R&D Centre in South Korea

California-based QUALCOMM Inc, a developer of advanced wireless technologies and data solutions, is to launch a technology research & development centre in South Korea and will also invest around $4 million in a local digital audio chip maker.

The new research facility will focus on developing next generation mobile communication technology. It will be established with the co-operation of the Korean government, research institutions and academics.

The main focus of the centre will be mobile multimedia. This will be the company's second facility of its kind outside the US after establishing one in China.
